Jared Der-Yeghiayan testified that the screen displayed the same chat he had just conducted with DPR, while limiting his identification of Ulbricht to that day's exchange.
Austin, Texas
A residence-history document listed Austin as Ulbricht's residence from September 2009 to May 16, 2012, and Bates testified that he lived there in November 2011. Alford described a Priceline email to rossulbricht@gmail.com listing a scheduled flight from San Francisco to Austin on September 26, 2012. Haney also identified Austin as the hometown of a shared high school friend group when discussing Ulbricht's reputation.
Australia
Richard Bates recalled that Ulbricht left Austin for Australia around Thanksgiving 2011. In closing, the prosecution cited journal entries and travel details from his Australian stay as evidence of continued Silk Road activity, while the defense emphasized his claim to Bates that he had already sold the site before leaving. Jared Der-Yeghiayan separately testified that the Australia-based user samesamebutdifferent shared customer-support coverage with him across time zones.
235 Monterey Boulevard in San Francisco, California
Gregory Fine testified that agents searched Ross Ulbricht's residence at 235 Monterey Boulevard under a warrant following his arrest on October 1, 2013. Thomas Kiernan identified two thumb drives recovered from the residence. Kiernan also said he transported the laptop there from the library and continued triage, keeping it running while awaiting transfer to Christopher Beeson.
Chicago O'Hare International Airport
HSI special agent Jared Der-Yeghiayan testified that he was assigned to Chicago O'Hare International Airport and conducted undercover Silk Road purchases to try to match drug shipments received there with suspected shippers. He compared the appearance of seized packages, including printed labels, business logos, foil and doubled packaging, with instructions in Silk Road's seller's guide.
a data center in Iceland
Ilhwan Yum testified that he assisted Icelandic police in searching and seizing two servers at an Iceland data center on or about October 2, 2013. He said the operation waited for confirmation of Ulbricht's arrest to avoid alerting him through changes to the servers.
